The comprehensive plan launch survey results are now available on the city website.

I combed through the section labeled “What do you treasure most about Worthington today?”
And noticed that 1,056 comments were submitted. I wanted to know the most commonly used words (including synonyms) so I ran a Word cloud and the counted the top 16 words. Here they are in order, with the number of times they appeared in the comments:
Community 505
Walkability 355
Green / Parks 304
Schools 215
Downtown 210
Neighborhoods 135
Historic 128
Farmers Market 122
Events 106
Charm / Character 104
Services 102
Location 102
Restaurants 82
Neighbors 71
Library 52
Family-Friendly 72
Though none of these words are surprising when describing Worthington, it is important to see the themes that we value as a community (or at least those who submitted the survey). Physical attributes like green space, parks, and location top the chart with historic and neighborhoods weaving through the results. Abstract ideas like community and charm are at the core of what we treasure about our city.
Using AI, I created this overview paragraph of Worthington using all these words. I think AI nailed it.
Worthington is a family-friendly community known for its historic charm and character, where welcoming neighbors create a strong sense of belonging. The city’s walkability makes it easy to enjoy vibrant neighborhoods, excellent schools, and a lively downtown filled with restaurants, shops, and a beloved farmers market. Green spaces and parks are woven throughout, offering plenty of opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and community events that bring people together year-round. With convenient city services, a well-loved library, and a central location that provides easy access to surrounding areas, Worthington balances small-town warmth with big-city amenities, making it a truly special place to call home.
